Our Story
THE WHEN
WIPC was started in May of 2017. There was a guy in a Facebook group that was incredibly rude, disrespectful and derogatory to me (and other female pest members). I was shocked, frustrated, angry and I'd had enough. So right then and there, I told Lisa Botts I was going to start my own group for women. And I did!
A year and a half in, we had about 300 members. We decided to get together and what we thought would be just a "meet n' greet", turned into a full blown conference in August of 2019, making history with the first ever all Women's Conference.
It was then I realized there was a huge need for women in this industry to feel supported, encouraged and educated in a safe environment with no fear of nasty treatment or condescending attitudes. That is why we have continued to strive to put together the best conferences since. Despite COVID messing things up for a few years, we didn't quit and the rewards have been amazing!
If I ever get the chance to meet that guy, I would definitely thank him. His behavior caused what turned out to be the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done in my life.

THE WHY
Our mission is to provide professional and personal development opportunities for pest management professionals with underrepresented genders.

Our vision is to provide an inclusive environment for females, representing people of all colors, creeds and sexual orientations to empower them within the Pest Control Industry to achieve success on their own terms in a safe space.
We deliver programs that contribute to the personal and professional development of our members through a forum that provides growth and support while championing education and celebrating success. Within that framework, we strive to provide opportunities for people to connect and support each other on issues unique to them.

Women In Pest Control will achieve our Vision while holding on to the values of providing safe spaces for underrepresented genders in the pest management profession. We will provide an uplifting, and positive environment. We believe all questions deserve to be answered without derision or malice as all people are in different places on their journeys.
